Members of the January 6th Committee were in conflict over whether criminal referrals should be made to Donald Trump or any other person.
Rep. Bennie Thompson was the committee chair. Rep. Liz Cheney, Rep. Adam Schiff, and others responded that there has not been a decision. The committee has postponed its next hearing due to this disorganization.
Although they have given an official reason for their decision, is it being bought by anyone?

In a Tuesday statement, the House committee that is investigating the Jan. 6 attack at the Capitol stated that it had postponed its public hearing which was originally scheduled for 10 a.m. ET Wednesday.
Instead, the next hearing will be held on Thursday. Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), a member of the panel, said Tuesday that the delay was due to technical issues resulting from an “overwhelming demand” for videos by staff.
I find it extremely suspicious that they delayed a long-planned hearing due to not having all of their videos. This doesn’t pass the smell test. These production elements are well planned out, so the committee wouldn’t be two days away from a hearing without all exhibits.
What’s the real reason for this? It is possible that Monday’s hearing was a complete failure and they are now trying to create more “shocking and awe” videos for the next one. This could explain why they rush to make more videos at the very last moment. What does that say about the evidence they claim they have? If they are unable to just show up and present it, how can they possibly be sure of what they actually have?
The possibility exists that the committee was tipped that the Dobbs decision which is currently promising to overturn Roe V. Wade will be released on Wednesday. There is no official word at this time, but the Supreme Court will release its decisions as soon as the term ends. This would be logical considering how publicity-hungry this committee is. They don’t want to be in conflict with angry mobs that react to the possibility that the “right” to abort is nuked.
Perhaps the infighting is just making it difficult for the members to agree on a single strategic plan. This is not an outlandish suggestion. Evidently, some members would like to refer criminal cases to the highest court while the chairman does not. This disagreement could impact how they play their cards at the next hearings.
However, things don’t seem to be going according to plan for Thompson, Cheney, and the rest. While they may be getting all the attention they desire from the media bubble, most Americans are much more concerned about the economy at the moment. The idea that Democrats are out of touch by pushing January 6th as the most important issue of our time only reinforces the notion that Democrats are hopelessly out of touch. They are, largely because of that.
