Monday, Dr. Anthony Fauci announced his intention to resign from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He had been leading this institution since December 1984.

Fauci stated that he will retire from these positions in December in order to move on to the next stage of his career.

Fauci originally suggested that Fauci would continue to serve through Biden’s term. This means Fauci will actually be leaving two years earlier than he had anticipated. Despite telling the Washington Post that he wanted to enjoy retirement while he was still healthy and energetic, Fauci’s decision to retire in December is more likely due to the fact that Republicans are poised to regain control of the House in the upcoming midterm elections and launch a slew of investigations into Fauci’s actions as NIAID director–particularly in regard to the nation’s COVID-19 response.

He stated, ” Republicans would pursue him”.

Fauci shouldn’t be relied upon by the Republicans to be kind to him because he has retired.

Rand Paul tweeted Monday that Fauci’s resignation would not prevent an investigation into the pandemic’s origins and spread. He also said that he would be required to testify under oath about any conversations he had regarding the laboratory leak.

Fauci’s resignation will not prevent a full-throated investigation into the origins of the pandemic. He will be asked to testify under oath regarding any discussions he participated in concerning the lab leak.
