Something is happening in California. After being screwed over by the Democrat Party on their promises of reparations, Black Californians are threatening to sit out 2024 or sabotage it for the Democrats; whether you believe that or not, it is unprecedented that this voting bloc has actually threatened to exercise their political power, albeit small, in this way. As RedState reported, Democrat State Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil decided to change her registration to the Republican Party. Political expediency? Probably, but again, a sure sign that the Democrat stronghold in the state is showing significant fractures

On Wednesday, the party was dealt another blow. Gloria Romero, who formerly was Democrat majority leader in the California Senate, has decided she also will change parties. Romero announced this on the State Capitol steps with Steve Hilton, California activist and host of the Steve Hilton Show, CA GOP Chairwoman Jessica Milan Patterson, Republican leadership in the California legislature, and Republican U.S. Congressman Kevin Kiley flanking her for the full effect.

Here’s the kicker: Unlike Alvarado-Gil, Romero has let it be known that she plans to vote for former President and GOP nominee Donald Trump.

You may now clutch your pearls

Gloria Romero, the former Democratic majority leader in the California state Senate, announced on Wednesday that she was switching to the Republican Party and voting for Donald Trump in November.
Romero represented the 24th District, which included sections of East Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley. She made her announcement in a news conference at the state Capitol, while surrounded by California GOP Chair Jessica Millan Patterson, Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-Rocklin), Assembly Minority Leader James Gallagher (R-Yuba City) and conservative political commentator Steve Hilton.
“Today I say ‘goodbye, adios,’ I’ve had enough. I am now another near-lifelong Democrat who is joining the growing number of people … who are leaving the Democratic Party,” Romero said. “This is not the Democratic Party that I once championed. I do not recognize it anymore, and I cannot continue. I changed my voting registration today as the sun was rising to Republican, which has, under Donald Trump, become the champion of working people, the big tent. And indeed, I will vote for Donald Trump this fall.”

In 2021, Romero endorsed Republican candidate Larry Elder in the California Governor’s Recall election, so the handwriting was on the wall. Romero has just made it official. Democrats are treating it like a nothing burger.

As one of their female Latina firsts (Romero was the first woman to serve as majority leader before she was termed out in 2010), they have lost one “standard-bearer” who the Democrats love to trot out and use to manipulate the Hispanic masses. Romero has made it known she is now championing the Republican aims and the Trump-Vance ticket, especially in regard to the Southern border. In early August, Romero appeared on Fox Business’ “Wall Street” with Maria Bartiromo before she officially made her party switch. Romero totally exposed Vice President and selected Democrat nominee Kamala Harris’ record as San Francisco DA, California AG and VP Harris’ terrible record on the Southern border, as well as lamented that this current Democrat Party is not the one that she proudly aligned with decades ago.

And as Porky Pig ended every “Looney Tune” episode, “That’s All Folks!” Whether it’s a major blow or no, it has definitely left an indelible mark on the Democrat Party in California and nationwide. Word on the street indicates that if Democrats feel the need to respond, then this shows there’s trouble in the water.

The Democrat governor certainly has not helped matters, but that’s an understatement. Gavin Newsom has been on a scorched-earth revenge tour since losing out on this chance for the presidency and being rebuffed by the Harris-Walz campaign. The titular head of the California Democrats has even been rebuffed by his supermajority. When Newsom tried to call a special session (again) to discuss “price gouging” by the state refineries and oil producers, the Democrats essentially told him to go pound sand.

The saga will undoubtedly play out over the coming hours and days, but what’s already quite obvious is that California Democrats aren’t afraid of Newsom anymore, they’re not loyal to him, and they’re not going to carry his water. That does not bode well for his future career prospects.
Kamala might have really kneecapped this guy.

With a Democrat governor in freefall and the citizens unhappy with the current state of Democrat leadership, California may well be in play this election up and down the ballot. We’ll continue to keep an eye on it.
