On the calendar, it’s a day ending with “day,” which in these times means Trump almost certainly continued to shake up Washington, D.C., with stunning moves and aggressive efforts to re-shape the federal government. We’ve seen him unleash the power of the DOGE on the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), leading to many liberal tears, he imposed sanctions on South Africa over their racist law allowing expropriation of (mostly white farmers’) land without compensation, yanked former President Joe Biden’s security clearance, and much more.

But of course, he wasn’t done, and on Friday afternoon, he axed several board members from the Kennedy Center and announced a famous new chairman – none other than Donald J. Trump himself. It’s time for a new “Golden Age in Arts and Culture,” he posted to social media:

Speaking of the Kennedy name:

The president was not happy with the direction of the storied organization, which was created by Congress and whose Center for the Performing Arts debuted in 1971. Trump is not a fan of the drag shows:

Trump claimed he and current chair David Rubenstein “do not share [the same] Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture,” according to the announcement on Truth Social.

He said a new board would be announced soon, adding the new chairman, naming himself, is “amazing.”

“Just last year, the Kennedy Center featured Drag Shows specifically targeting our youth — THIS WILL STOP,” Trump wrote in the post.

The Kennedy Center in October hosted a Dancing Queens Drag Brunch at its Roof Terrace Restaurant in October, featuring Washington, D.C.‘s “most fabulous drag performers,” according to its website.

Interestingly enough, the move must have captured the attention of lots of folks because when I went to the Center’s website, this is what I got:

I am now seeing that they posted a statement at an unspecified hour this evening; that could explain why the site was unavailable for a time. They wrote:

The Kennedy Center is aware of the post made recently by POTUS on social media. We have received no official communications from the White House regarding changes to our board of trustees.

The former chairman’s ties to failed former president Joe Biden probably didn’t make Trump look kindly on him:

The current chair of the Kennedy Center board of trustees is billionaire philanthropist David Rubenstein, who was co-founder of the private equity firm the Carlyle Group and had served as a policy adviser to former President Carter.

Rubenstein also has ties to former President Biden, who stayed at his house in Nantucket over Thanksgiving last year. The annual Kennedy Center Honors took place in December, and Rubenstein saluted Biden, who was in the audience, for being “gracious hosts” and attending the show for four years.

President Trump has only been in office for a little over two weeks, but frankly, it feels like months, so much has happened. You may not agree with each and every decision he has made, but it’s hard not to enjoy the sight of liberals throwing tantrums and reluctantly trying to come to terms with the fact that they and their terrible vision for America have been soundly rejected by so many millions of people.

Sorry, not sorry.
