It has not quite been one year, but ever since the presidential debate between then-President Joe Biden and eventual President Donald Trump, the Democratic Party has been on a downward slide. Since the election the leadership has been on a perplexing crusade of emotion-based efforts – the latest being the full-scale support for a deported El Salvadoran gang member.
The current maxim has been that the Dems seem intent on always choosing the minority opinion on all 80/20 issues, and this has been made manifest as current party approval literally hovers at that same percentile. When nearly half of your own voters have an unfavorable opinion of the decisions being made, one would think some form of recognition might rise to the surface, but plunging along seems to be the party plan.
One of those vexing decisions came in January during their winter meeting. After pledging to continue with a focus on identity politics – after November’s electoral rebuke of said platform – they also selected as their new vice chairman none other than the inept wannabe firebrand, David Hogg. And true to form, Harvard’s pride wasted little time in showing the lack of wisdom in resorting to the Democrat practice of failing upward.
Another outspoken voice for years on behalf of the Left has been Parkland father Fred Guttenberg. A favored go-to voice for anti-gun propaganda, Fred has been a fixture this past week on news networks following the shooting on the campus of Florida State University. In between firearm tragedies, Guttenberg is a persistent leftist lobbyist, and this is where interest emerges.
After some choice social media posts, Mr. Hogg has managed to raise both eyebrows and ire with his plan to begin primarying established Democrats. His wisdom delivered is that the party needs stronger candidates in order to combat President Trump and then the Democrats will rise up as a powerful entity. This perilous plot has of course created opposition in the party, but it is notable that Guttenberg is among those leveling concerns. He reacted to a Chris Cillizza video post (already a bad sign) where the former CNN pundit expressed unbiased concern over Hogg’s game plan.
While Guttenberg has been mostly involved in the anti-gun advocacy currently, prior to the FSU shooting he would routinely post critically on Hogg or share others levelling the critiques.
This is a rather stark schism to see developing within the party structure. Given that these two are held to a higher standard because of the Parkland shooting, it is notable that there is a divide developing. For years those affiliated directly with the Parkland shooting – the students, parents, and relatives (save for those who are conservative) – were not only granted copious amounts of air time but were shielded from criticism. Every wild proposal infringing on rights or any error in reading the Constitution could not be countered or criticized. “These are Parkland victims!” was the refrain, even if one was merely pointing out factual details as a response.
Shut up, they are from Parkland! was the mentality. So what do we do when two members of that faction are at odds?! Take one side and you oppose a Parkland figure on the other. But this is another sign of how fractured and unfocused the party is these days. When their own exalted players are on opposing sides, you know things are deeply awry.

The amusement is that they might not even recognize this tremor. Fred put out a post concerning Dana Bash being critical of Laura Loomer, and he seems to feel that the squabble between a pair of media figures is significant. Meanwhile, he is among two of the Democrats’ loudest anti-gun zealots and they are in a brewing internecine fight, one side of which is part of the party leadership.
Considering Parkland figures were once considered beyond reproach, it speaks volumes about the affairs inside the Democrat circus when two of those vaunted figures are in conflict. By their own party’s rules, one of them is committing a severe breach of social ethics and in need of being thrown out – which itself would violate party standards.
Hmmm…
Editor’s Note: The Democrat Party has never been less popular as voters reject its globalist agenda.
