With so much of the focus on President Donald Trump’s visit to the Middle East, former FBI Director James Comey’s dangerous publicity stunt, and getting Trump’s big, beautiful bill across the finish line, other national and congressional news has gone under the radar. On Friday, Congressman Tim Burchett (R-TN) announced on X that he would be introducing legislation with the sole purpose of codifying President Donald Trump’s signed executive orders, 151 by last count.

Today, U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett announced that he will be introducing legislation to codify President Trump’s Executive Orders. Since his inauguration, President Trump has slashed regulatory red tape, prioritized fiscal conservatism, and effectively closed the Southern Border.

“President Trump has done his part in acting on the mandate from the American people. It’s past time for Congress to take action,” said Representative Burchett.

“I am taking charge to ensure Congress carries out President Trump’s agenda. Thats why I’ll be introducing a series of single-issue bills to support the President and Congressional Republicans’ promise to the American people.”

The first series of bills will enforce DOGE cuts, slash harmful red tape, eliminate foreign influence in our schools, and unleash American energy.

Burchett is taking a page from the Trump administration and plans to flood the zone with legislation to ensure the MAGA, MAHA, and DOGE agendas are solidified. As we saw with the executive orders former President Joe Biden signed on January 20, 2021, to reverse the policies that Trump 45 enacted to secure the Southern border, among others, presidential actions can be showy and drive the news cycle but ultimately hold little permanence unless Congress codifies them into law.

On Thursday, Rep. Mark Harris (R-NC) took to the House floor to back Burchett’s play, urging them to act to ensure the 151 executive orders already signed can be crafted into legislation.

After three terms in the House of Representatives, Burchett has established himself as one of the few honest actors in Congress, as well as gained media prominence through his well-placed and well-timed turns-of-phrases. However, it is not clear whether this translates into the weight needed to push legislation forward. But Burchett’s move will earn him loyalty from and cred with the MAGA-faithful and others who elected President Trump to not just get things done but to enact legislation that will work after he has left office.
