So it was concerning when some media outlets and accounts on X ran with a story over the past day about an appearance he had with Larry Kudlow on Fox Business on Tuesday.
Here was the headline from “The Daily Beast” claiming Kennedy froze right in the middle of speaking.
They also added a little “Gerontocracy” tag to the bottom of the headline. They compared the moment to what happened to Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) when McConnell froze up while speaking.
Kennedy was supposed to be talking about sanctuary cities.
Here’s the moment that they were referencing. “Jesus loves them, but everybody else thinks…” Sen. Kennedy said, before stopping.
While he does stop, you can also hear a weird buzzing on the feed. Kudlow said they had prior problems with the same mic going out on them when Kudlow was talking with Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) in a previous segment.
‘I guess we had some more technical problems. That was the same mic we lost with Senator Rand Paul,’ Kudlow said.
Kennedy told “The Daily Mail” it was a mic problem, as Kudlow had said. And he let “The Daily Beast” have it – in that inimitable way that he has – for not doing more to check the story
‘The Daily Beast is wrong. Yesterday, during my interview with Larry Kudlow on Fox Business, there was a malfunction in my earpiece. I heard a loud screeching noise with a lot of static. It sounded like a 747 taking off,’ the senator told the Daily Mail via a statement.
‘The same thing happened with Rand Paul, who was interviewed before me. I stopped talking until the interference cleared up, and thought we were off the air. Once I could hear Kudlow, I started talking again. All you have to do to get the facts is call Kudlow’s producer, which the Daily Beast intern clearly didn’t do,’ Kennedy added.
Kennedy’s X account also continued to post after the incident and didn’t appear to have anything out of the ordinary.
So I’m glad to hear he’s fine, but he’s right. They should have taken the clue from Kudlow about the mic and checked with him. And they should have updated their story when the facts came out. They haven’t done so as of this writing. They did say they contacted Kennedy’s spokesperson, who did not immediately respond before they ran the story.
Some accounts on X are still publishing the video without Kennedy’s explanation.
So I wanted to clarify the issue, if you had heard about it. Hopefully, he will be around for some time to continue to put Democrat witnesses on the spot, and skewer Democrat wasteful spending.
