Narrative Busting: Finer Print in the NY16 Democrat Primary Results Even More Devastating for Bowman

The prevailing narrative amongst woke Democrats (and some in the media) in the aftermath of Rep. Jamaal Bowman’s resounding defeat in the NY-16 Democratic primary Tuesday is that big-money special interest groups like AIPAC “bought” the primary by spending tens of millions in it to defeat Bowman.

For instance, Justice Democrats, the far-left organization that was responsible for foisting the likes of Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Cori Bush (D-MO), and Bowman on unsuspecting Americans, melted down on their Twitter/X page, writing a lengthy rant that concluded with this claim:

“They know they are losing the war of public opinion, as Dem voters nationwide stand up for Palestinians rights and lives and call out AIPAC’s right-wing funding, and so they have no choice but to overwhelm, confuse, and depress voters with $15 million to buy a seat in Congress.”

They also retweeted this from far-left columnist/racial arsonist Wajahat Ali:

“Regardless of your opinion on Bowman, you shouldn’t celebrate an interest group, in this case AIPAC and its big donors, spending a historic $14.5 million in a primary race. Probably not the best thing for democracy.”

While it’s true that AIPAC did indeed spend a lot of money in this race, at the end of the day, it’s not PACs who go to the polls. It’s the people. And long before AIPAC got involved in this primary fight, Bowman was already turning people off with his disregard for his constituents as well as his duplicity on the issue of Israel, even once asking a Democrat Jewish leader in 2022 to text him a picture of the two of them together so he could prove he had Jewish friends in his heavily Jewish district.

At the end of the day, it’s the numbers that tell the true story, and the numbers in this primary versus Bowman’s primary in 2022 really tell the story of a man who was already on the ropes, but who ultimately sunk himself.

In 2022, nearly 30,000 people voted in the Democrat NY-16 primary. Bowman got just a little over 17,000 in a four-candidate field.

Contrast that with 2024, where at least 76,000 (and counting) voted, and where Bowman, as of this writing, got 31,555 votes (41.6 percent) to George Latimer’s 44,371 (58.4 percent).

The writing was on the wall in 2022. All Bowman had to do was not go bat-crap crazy on the subject of Israel – especially after the Oct. 7th Hamas terrorist attacks, and on other issues that mattered to his constituents. But he couldn’t do it.

At the end of the day, it was more about his national profile and the backpats he could get from the Hamas Caucus/Squad/DSA than it was about representing the people who sent him to Congress.

Newsflash: If your stances and attitude are at odds with a majority of the people in your district, then it’s nobody’s fault other than your own as to why you lost. It’s just as simple as that.
