Officials announced during a midafternoon press conference that the alleged Fort Stewart shooter is an active duty soldier who is in custody.

The suspect was taken into custody shortly after 11:30 a.m.

FOX News published video of Brig. Gen. John Lubas making clear that the five soldiers who were wounded are in stable condition and expected to survive.

He stressed that “there is currently no threat to the local community” and noted that “the shooting occurred at [the shooter’s] place of work and it did involve his co-workers.”

CNN noted that Lubas indicated the alleged shooter is an “automated logistics sergeant and was assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team.”

Lubas said a motive remains unknown.

Gavin Newsom Mocked Into Next Week for This Hilarious, Desperate Response to Redistricting Question

0
AP Photo/Damian Dovarganes

It’s been rather funny to watch Democrats flip out about the Texas plans to redistrict, with Democrats fleeing the state to break the quorum. Now that’s coming back to bite them, as they just may suffer the consequences of abandoning their jobs.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has started an attempt to remove the Democrats for refusing to show up for their jobs.

The Texas Supreme Court has now called on the Democratic leader of this action, Gene Wu, to respond to Abbott’s action.

Meanwhile, the Democrats are leaving other things hanging in the wind. What about the flooding response and other critical issues?

So you have some Democrats crying that they may gerrymander elsewhere to help the Democratic cause. It’s funny for them to act like they haven’t been employing gerrymandering for years. There have been some silly responses, but the one from California Gov. Gavin Newsom has to be right up there on the bad, desperation meter.

In an X post, he listed “Red states with ZERO Dem house seats” and “Red states with just ONE Dem house seat.”

Red states with ZERO Dem house seats:

Oklahoma

Arkansas

Iowa

Utah

Nebraska

Idaho

Montana

West Virginia

Alaska

North Dakota

South Dakota

Wyoming

Red states with just ONE Dem house seat:

Mississippi

South Carolina

Tennessee

Kentucky

Kansas

Should I keep going?

But there was a small problem there, as people were quick to tell Newsom, while they laughed at him. He’s trying to make a point about gerrymandering – while listing multiple states that only have one district, including North Dakota, South Dakota, Alaska, and Wyoming.

White House Deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson couldn’t quite believe it.

CNN commentator and Salem radio host Scott Jennings had some fun with him.

Please, please stop the gerrymandering in those places – for the children!

And Newsom wants to run for president? Add that to the history of failure that he’s left in California, and it’s not a good look. Newsom has said he will try to retaliate with moves in California, if Texas goes through with its plans.

Code Red: ICE Raids Are Ripping the Lid Off L.A.’s Open Dirty Secret

0
AP Photo/Damian Dovarganes

Welcome to Los Angeles, where the real immigration policy is cheap illegal labor — and the law? Well, it’s just theater.

When federal immigration agents began raiding Home Depots and other businesses in the Los Angeles area recently, something strange happened:

Foot traffic vanished overnight.

Entire blocks shut down.

Sales plummeted.

And it wasn’t because customers were scared. It was because the workers were. Employees simply stopped showing up. Some owners shuttered their doors. Fear gripped the heart of L.A.’s commercial corridors.

The real story? That fear didn’t expose a broken immigration system — it exposed a network of lawbreaking employers who rely on illegal labor to line their pockets with profits.

This isn’t a humanitarian crisis. It’s a compliance crisis.

Another Day, Another Temporary Restraining Order—CA Judge Kneecaps ICE Efforts in Golden State

Fear Tells the Truth

ICE didn’t sweep every business. They didn’t arrest every illegal immigrant in sight. But a few high-profile operations caused a ripple effect that left entire streets deserted — and businesses paralyzed.

Why?

Because too many businesses exploit illegal immigrants. The politicians knew it. The business owners knew it. And now, so do the rest of us.

When workers vanish at the first sign of immigration enforcement, it’s not because they’re nervous — it’s because they’re not eligible to work here in the first place.

Let that sink in.

The Open Secret

California Democrats love to talk about being a sanctuary state. About welcoming illegal immigration. About dignity, inclusion, and “building back better.”

But the truth is, they’ve enabled an entire economy built on illegal labor. Low wages. No benefits. No complaints. That’s what keeps the wheels turning in industries like garment manufacturing, agriculture, food service, and construction.

And when enforcement shows up?

Panic sets in — because the whole thing is a house of cards built on violating federal law.

Democrats Cry ‘Who Will Pick Our Crops’ Over California ICE Raid, but the Details Are Far More Disturbing

Who’s Exploiting Whom?

The left will tell you these are just hard-working people trying to earn a living. And in many cases, that’s true. But that’s not the point.

The point is: the same politicians and activists who scream about “living wages” and “workers’ rights” turn a blind eye when businesses exploit illegal labor for dirt-cheap pay.

Where are the unions? Where’s the labor board? Where’s the outrage?

Nowhere. Because illegal labor is the engine of California’s shadow economy, and the political class knows it. They don’t care about protecting workers.

They care about protecting their machine.

E-Verify Is a Punchline

Let’s get one thing straight: Every employer has access to E-Verify, the federal system designed to confirm legal work status. It’s free. It’s fast. It works.

So why aren’t they using it?

Because California doesn’t require it. In fact, Democrats in Sacramento have fought tooth and nail to block local governments from enforcing it.

That’s not compassion. That’s collusion.

And when federal enforcement steps in to do the job local officials won’t? Democrats call it “fearmongering.” Business owners call it a travesty. And the liberal media pushes the narrative.

But if your entire workforce disappears when ICE shows up, you weren’t following the law to begin with.

The Reckoning

Progressives love to pretend our immigration debate is about empathy, fairness, and equality. But what’s happening in Los Angeles proves otherwise.

This isn’t about human rights. It’s about cheap, off-the-books labor — and the politicians, businesses, and activists who look the other way.

If a few ICE raids can take down entire commercial blocks, that’s not a sign of an immigration problem. That’s proof of mass lawbreaking.

It’s time to stop pretending. It’s time to enforce the law. And it’s time to hold the enablers accountable — from the boardroom to City Hall to Sacramento.

Here’s a thought: If your business model depends on breaking the law, you don’t deserve to be in business.

Report: L.A. County Has Almost No Money for Disaster Response

0
Ethan Swope / Associated Press, File

Los Angeles County has almost no money for disaster response — despite the frequency of natural disasters in the most populous county in America, and despite the presence of a large and valuable property tax base.

The Washington Post reported Tuesday:

Documents that include a fiscal year 2024 budget sheet show the county’s operating finances for its Office of Emergency Management is around $15 million. The budget for this office is not typically made public, nor is it widely shared among emergency management employees. The details have not previously been reported.

For a county with nearly 10 million residents who live across 4,100 sprawling square miles, emergency management experts said that the office’s budget is shockingly low, especially when compared with similar major municipalities. For example, the emergency management budget for New York County, also known as Manhattan, sits at about $88 million; the office in Illinois’ Cook County, home to Chicago, had more than $130 million in funding for fiscal year 2025.

And L.A. County is no stranger to catastrophes. It has declared 74 disasters over the past 20 years and is barely recovering from the January firestorm that was one of the most destructive in state history. It often hosts major events, such as some World Cup matches in 2026 and the next Summer Olympics in 2028. The county’s emergency management budget underlines growing concerns about whether officials can properly prepare for and respond to all-encompassing incidents, while carrying out everyday functions.

L.A. County Fire Department Chief Anthony Marrone apologized to residents in January after the county and the City of Los Angeles were unable to prevent the spread of deadly and destructive wildfires in the area.

At Least 600 Detainees Deported from Alligator Alcatraz

Emilio Flores/Anadolu via Getty Images

At least 600 detainees have been deported from Alligator Alcatraz, according to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).

Alligator Alcatraz, the illegal migrant detention facility in the Florida Everglades, opened roughly one month ago and has since taken in some of the worst of the worst illegal migrants — from an MS-13 member with the nickname “Satan” to an illegal migrant arrested for allegedly cutting the throat of an elderly woman in Key Largo, Florida.

During a press conference last week, DeSantis confirmed that 600 detainees have since been deported from the facility, which conveniently has a runway making deportations that much easier.

“I don’t think you’ve seen any state in the country work more closely with these federal agencies to fulfill a very key mission, a mandate from the American people after the 2024 election, to get this job done,” DeSantis said during the press conference.

“Thus far, we’ve had over 600 that have been deported from Alligator Alcatraz by ICE and that cadence is starting to rapidly increase,” DeSantis explained.

The governor has continued to shut down critics of the facility, reminding leftists that the individuals sent to Alligator Alcatraz already have an order of removal.

“So people talk about due process, this and that, and obviously, you know, there’s some process. I mean, if you do have a right to be here, then that should matter,” he said, explaining that these migrants have already gone through that process.

“But these guys have already gone through that, so they have that,” he said. “So, if you have an order to be removed, what is the possible objection to the federal government enforcing that removal order?”

“If you don’t think those folks should be sent back, then you basically just want an open border,” he concluded.

RELATED — We NEED Alligator Alcatraz!

The governor has also addressed some of the more ridiculous complaints about the facility, which has air conditioning, a 24/7 medical facility, access to indoor and outdoor recreational yards, legal and clergy support services, and laundry.

“They’re making these claims, and they’re saying, ‘Oh, they’re not — they’re not fed,’” DeSantis said.

“First of all, they’re fed the same that the staff is fed. … It’s not a prison. It’s a deportation processing center. So it is different. But like in Florida prisons, do you think the prisoners get the same meals as the guards?” he asked. “No. Of course not. It’s different.”

“This is — everyone’s the same there,” he said, revealing, “And they were mad that the ham sandwiches weren’t toasted.”

RELATED — Self-Deport, or Go to Alligator Alcatraz!

This comes as Florida is rumored to be prepping another detention facility in north Florida, known as Camp Blanding.

“It has a runway,” DeSantis said of the second facility. “I don’t know if it would be as equivalent to Alligator Alcatraz because the runway is not as big.”

“You may be able to move people right out of there. You do have Cecil Field very close to that. So, when we look at this, is it really what makes logistical sense? Again, I’m not creating the Four Seasons for illegal aliens,” the governor said. “I’m not detaining just to detain.”

Watch: CNBC Tries to Fact-Check Trump on Live TV, and Host Ends Up With Egg on His Face

CNBC attempted to fact-check President Donald Trump on live TV, and the host ended up with egg on his face when Trump was proven right once again.

On Tuesday, Trump called in to CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” where co-hosts Joe Kernan and Rebecca Quick spoke to him about everything, including the number of states he won in the 2024 election, the state of the Democratic Party, revenue from the tariffs, and the overall state of the economy.

Media Lie Gets Vaporized As CNN Data Guru Reveals Trump Voter Regret Exists Only in a ‘Fanciful Universe’

Trump talked about his recent election victory and the states he overwhelmingly won, like Texas, where he said he “got the highest vote in the history of Texas.”

Kernan said, “I have to check on that.”

Trump encouraged the host to do just that and check it out. After a short while, Kernan came back and shared that Trump was right. And the expression on his face said it all.

“Okay, so huh, here we go, you did get the highest number of votes in Texas,” the host explained. “So, that’s true.”

Trump interjected and said, “I did. Okay, you don’t have to say anything more, Joe. No, don’t say anything more, don’t qualify it by saying …”

Kernan replied, “You did,” and announced he was moving on.

Later, Trump talked about how the Democrat party was “self-destructing!”

“When you have low-IQ people like [Rep. Jasmine] Crockett 9D-TX)…She’s a very low-IQ person!” Trump said. “She’s one of the leaders of the party! You’ve gotta be kidding!”

“The Democrats are lost,” he added. “They have Trump Derangement Syndrome so bad that they can’t walk! They can’t talk. They don’t know where they’re going!”

When pressed by co-host Quick if he was going to run again, the president gave a classic Trump response.

“No. Probably not. Probably not,” Trump said, with a little chuckle.

President Trump also took a jab at the Democratic legislators who fled Texas to New York and Illinois, to deny a quorum on a new Texas redistricting plan.

“The dumbest of all governors,” Trump said after naming Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker. “The business is flowing out of his state. It’s terrible…He was the black sheep of the family; they threw him out of the business!”

“You notice [the Texas Dems] go to Illinois for safety, but that’s all gerrymandered!” he added. “California’s gerrymandered. We should have many more seats in Congress in California.”

All this winning. It hasn’t gotten old yet!

Tim Walz May Be Goofy but New Docs Reveal His ChiCom Gig Was Anything But

0
AP Photo/Jae C. Hong

Quick — describe Minnesota governor and spectacularly failed Democrat vice presidential candidate Tim Walz in one word.

Assuming your description is publicly printable, what did you come up with?

Loony? Unhinged? Nutty? Lunatic? Delusional?

Chances are, whatever derogatory descriptor you chose is a far cry from the way the Communist leaders in China viewed Walz in the past — and likely still do — based on information contained in newly released internal memos from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the FBI.

The memos show that both DHS and the FBI had serious, longstanding concerns about Walz and his connections to the Chinese Communist Party, reported Just the News on Monday, especially after he was selected by Harris as her vice presidential running mate in 2024.

DHS provided the documents to the watchdog organization Judicial Watch, which had submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request and filed a lawsuit against the government earlier in 2025.

The request sought communications from an agency group chat that reportedly mentioned the investigation into Walz and his relationship with Beijing. Whistleblowers revealed the existence of these messages to the House Oversight Committee last year, but the DHS, under the Biden administration, of course, resisted releasing the relevant documents.

ALSO CHECK OUTTim Walz Reminds Us of Disaster We Dodged in 2024 With Wild Remarks on Our Army, China, and Iran/Israel

New Book Reveals the Backstory on Harris Picking Walz – It’s As Bad As You Think

The concerns were about Walz’s relationship with China, particularly in the context of potential Chinese Communist Party (CCP) influence, and his extensive travel to China.

While Walz’s defenders have long argued that his actions in China were solely due to educational and diplomatic engagements, his actions, and sometimes effusive comments about China, potentially suggest otherwise — if nothing more than that the leftist governor is a champion of the communist giant.

Where There’s Smoke, Is There Fire?

In 1989, Walz, then a recent college graduate, taught English and American history for a year at a high school in Guangdong, which was arranged through Harvard University’s WorldTeach program. It’s worth noting that this was a tenuous period in China, which saw the Tiananmen Square massacre of protesting students, although Waltz arrived in-country later in the year.

Additionally, Walz claimed during a 2016 congressional hearing that he had visited China approximately 30 times — which he revised to “closer to 15 times” during the 2024 presidential election campaign. One notable trip in 1993 was partially funded by the Chinese government, and the Walzes honeymooned in China in 1994 on the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square crackdown.

There’s more, but let’s get back to the story at hand.

In one of the newly released memos, a Homeland Security employee wrote in a message to the group chat called “NST NFT Bi-Weekly Sync” on August 7, 2024: “China is happy,” just one day after Harris announced Walz as her running mate. The unnamed employee linked to a BBC News article detailing Chinese internet reactions to the choice, which were largely positive.

Rhetorical question: Why was that? Why were the ChiComs largely positive about the prospect of Tim Walz as vice president of the United States?

In response, another Homeland Security employee, whose name was also redacted, suggested looping in the FBI, due to its responsibility for domestic counterintelligence. “[W]ith FBI mission in the CI field i [sic] believe they need to get included,” the employee wrote.

You can read the documents here.

Tom Fitton, the president of Judicial Watch, told Just the News in a statement on Monday:

This is every bit as important as the Russiagate disclosures. The Biden gang obviously covered this all up to try to help rig the election.

Report: India’s Crude Oil Imports from U.S. Surge 51 Percent Under Pressure to Stop Buying Russia’s

0
T. Narayan/Bloomberg via Getty Images

India’s Asian News International (ANI) on Sunday quoted sources in New Delhi who said India has “dramatically increased its crude oil imports from the United States since President Donald Trump returned to the White House for his second term.”

“From January to June 25, India increased its imports of US average crude supplies by 51 per cent compared to the same period last year,” ANI’s sources said.

The trend is reportedly accelerating as India’s purchases of American crude jumped by 114 percent in the second quarter of 2025, putting almost $2 billion more in the pockets of U.S. exporters.

The third quarter was off to a good start as well, with a 21-percent increase in crude oil imports from the United States logged in July.

ANI’s sources expected 2025 to end up with a net increase of 150 percent in U.S. crude oil purchases, plus increased imports of other energy products, such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG). LNG imports nearly doubled in 2024.

“Sources suggest this is just the beginning, with discussions underway for a major long-term LNG contract worth tens of billions of dollars,” ANI reported.

India is presently engaged in tough eleventh-hour trade negotiations with the United States, marked by a combination of combative public statements – including President Donald Trump telling India and Russia to “take their dead economies down together, for all I care” – and quiet constructive action behind the scenes.

India was outspokenly in favor of negotiating a broad trade agreement with the Trump administration as quickly as possible, but then frustrated U.S. negotiators by growing intransigent in the final stages of those negotiations, including adamant insistences on keeping protectionist agricultural tariffs in place and importing huge amounts of oil from Russia.

India has been buying Russian oil at deeply discounted prices ever since Moscow lost many of its old customers by invading Ukraine in 2022. The Trump administration is pressuring India to abandon its practices because oil income is a key funding stream for the Russian invasion.

Senior White House adviser Stephen Miller on Sunday bluntly accused India of underwriting Russia’s war in Ukraine.

“It is not acceptable for India to continue financing this war by purchasing the oil from Russia,” Miller said in a Fox News interview.

“People will be shocked to learn that India is basically tied with China in purchasing Russian oil. That’s an astonishing fact,” he said.

Two Indian government sources told Reuters that India will keep buying Russian oil, even if Trump makes good on his threat to impose up to 100 percent penalties on Moscow’s customers, in addition to the 25 percent tariff on Indian exports to the United States he imposed last week.

“These are long-term oil contracts. It is not so simple to just stop buying overnight,” one of Reuters’ sources said. The other argued that India has been fending off a global surge in oil prices by purchasing much of Russia’s supply, to the benefit of consumers in the U.S. and elsewhere.

Even as Indian officials made official and unofficial pronouncements that imports from Russia would continue, Indian state refiners quietly stopped purchasing Russian oil in July, cutting off about 40 percent of the flow from Russia to India. The indefinite suspension was ostensibly prompted by shrinking discounts from Russia, prompting Indian state refineries to go shopping in the Middle East and West Africa for better – and perhaps less politically explosive – deals on crude.

Combined with the news of surging imports from the United States, the actions of state refiners could represent a compromise with Trump’s demands: a significant reduction in purchases from Russia, coupled with a pleasing increase in purchases from American suppliers. New Delhi could also be playing for time, hoping for other factors to end the Ukraine conflict before India is forced to make a painful decision that could alienate its longtime allies in Russia.

On Sunday, India’s top state-owned refiner, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), announced a spot purchase of 4.5 million barrels of crude oil from the U.S., plus another 2.5 million from Canada and Abu Dhabi. Trade industry sources said this spot purchase was, in part, meant to replace reduced imports from Russia.

Exclusive: Democrats Plan to Spend Tens of Millions of Dollars to Fund Hundreds of Content Creators

0
Allison Robbert/The Washington Post via Getty Images

Democrats are planning to spend tens of millions of dollars to spin narratives on social media as part of a $110.5 million fundraising effort, according to images of slides from a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) donor event obtained by Breitbart News.

Under a heading “Urgent Off-Year Funding Needs” on one slide, it states the DCCC looks to raise $10 million for social media and content creation, $20 million for “Accountability work,” $15 million for “Voter Registration,” $5 million for “Recruitment” and “Primary Engagement,” and $2 million for “Research” and a “Rapid Response Infrastructure.”

2025 Funding Goal Slide (Obtained by Breitbart News)

One goal is to enlist at least 667 content creators, with the aim of reaching 83 million Americans and drawing 6.6 million engagements, per another slide that focuses on content creation. The program aims to engage at least 167 “Non-Political Creators” and 8 “Vetted Creators for ads in every target state.”

The Content Creators Slide (Obtained by Breitbart News)

There will be what the DCCC calls a “Social Media Bootcamp” that runs for four weeks. The boot camp, which seems to be for content creators, will focus on “Customized social media evaluation,” “Platform-specific optimization strategies,” “Realtime insights on trending content and engagement Strategies,” and “Daily + rapid response content.”

The pro-Democrat ZINC Collective Super PAC is listed on the slide, implying its involvement with the boot camp. ZINC Collective lists Robby Mook, the campaign manager for Hillary Clinton’s failed 2016 Democrat presidential campaign, as one of four key advisers, along with former senior adviser to Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Mike Smith.

Social Media Bootcamp Slide (Obtained by Breitbart News)

The effort comes as Republicans have dominated the social media sphere over Democrats. For example, in June alone, the @TeamTrump, led by Alex Bruesewitz and his firm X Strategies, amassed 200 million more views on Instagram and TikTok than the official Democratic Party accounts on both platforms, according to data reviewed by Breitbart News at the time.

Bruesewitz tells Breitbart News it is comical that Democrats are now spending big to try to compete with him and the GOP’s powerhouse social media presence.

“It’s hilarious and pathetic that Democrats are begging their donors for tens of millions of dollars to try to compete with our online presence, which we maintain on a shoestring budget,” he said in a statement. “We don’t pay creators to back President Trump—his leadership naturally inspires widespread, authentic support.”

A slide titled “5 Reasons to be Optimistic” could offer a glimpse into some of the narratives and branding content creators could spin on social media sites like TikTok and others. The first reason listed is “The Big Ugly Bill,” a way of attacking Trump’s legacy legislation, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which fulfills campaign promises Americans voted for in his mandate election victory last November.

The Five Reasons to be Optimistic (Obtained by Breitbart News)

Another reason listed, without any evidence on the slide at least, claims that “Democrats have an enthusiasm advantage and a generic ballot advantage,” though polling begs to differ on the enthusiasm front. The Democrat Party has a low 33.9 percent favorability rating, according to YouGov’s figures from July 27. On the other hand, nearly 62 percent find them unfavorable.

Meanwhile, the GOP drew a 40.1 percent favorability rating in the most recent running YouGov poll. But Democrats do have a slight 2.9 percent advantage over Republicans in the generic Congressional ballot for 2026 in the RealClearPolling Average.

Two more reasons “to be optimistic” claim the “DCCC is recruiting the right candidates to win swing districts,” and “Democratic leaders we have invested in since 2018 are well positioned to win.”

Breitbart News reached out to the DCCC for comment on this article but did not immediately receive a response.

Rebuild It Right: Fixing the ‘Unintended Consequences’ of Reckless Liberal Policies

0
AP Photo/Alex Gallardo

California didn’t stumble into failure — it was shoved off a cliff by radical politicians, activist bureaucrats, and the one-party machine that’s run this state into the ground.

They called it “progress.” They promised “equity.”

What did we get? Exploding crime. Dead downtowns. Fentanyl zombies. Working families taxed into oblivion.

This is what happens when liberal elites push reckless experiments from their gated neighborhoods while the rest of us live with the fallout.

The devastation was predictable. And now, it’s undeniable.

You’re not supposed to notice. You’re supposed to shut up, pay up, and vote the same way, forever.

But Californians are waking up.

Examples

It’s not just a feeling — the proof is everywhere. Liberal experiments like SB 9, Proposition 47, and sky-high minimum wage hikes were pitched as bold fixes for housing, crime, and wages.

Instead, they’ve unleashed chaos.

Even Democrats now admit the “unintended consequences.” And voters? They’re done buying the spin.

SB 9: Housing Built to Burn

SB 9 was pitched as a housing fix — more choices, more affordability. In reality, it’s a Trojan horse for state overreach.

The law lets developers split single-family lots and build up to four units — with no community input, no hearings, and no regard for safety or character. This isn’t “gentle density.”

It’s brute-force zoning from Sacramento.

In fire-prone areas like Pacific Palisades and Altadena, SB 9 has become a disaster-in-motion. After wildfires gutted blocks earlier this year, speculators rushed in.

And under SB 9, those scorched lots can now be crammed with four homes each.

It’s not just tone-deaf. It’s dangerous.

More homes mean more cars trying to escape narrow canyon roads. More strain on limited water, aging infrastructure, and emergency response.

Sacramento’s response? Shrug.

It wasn’t until neighbors started pleading for their lives — and local officials rang the alarm — that the Governor finally blinked.

“I want to go home. I don’t want to die during the next evacuation,” said Palisades resident May Sung, who lost two homes in the January blaze. “The proposal is not just for a duplex. The proposal is for a two-unit project with parking and ADU, so essentially, you have three single-family homes on a lot. It needs to be looked at community by community. It can’t just be enforced without consideration,” said Sung.

Sung described how it took two hours to evacuate her hillside neighborhood while Sunset Boulevard sat frozen. She’s one of many warning that SB 9 isn’t just reckless policy — it’s an existential threat.

Councilmember Traci Park said it plainly:

“Until we are satisfied that we have the infrastructure to support added density, as well as adequate evacuation routes and access for our emergency responders, we have got to put a pause on this type of development.”

Just 24 hours later, Governor Newsom issued Executive Order N‑32‑25, allowing local governments to temporarily suspend SB 9 in high-risk fire zones — including Pacific Palisades, Altadena, Malibu, and Sunset Mesa.

That wasn’t leadership — it was panic, wrapped in a press release.

SB 9 was a ticking time bomb — written by ideologues who treat neighborhoods like squares on a zoning map.

Proposition 47 (Prop 47): Reform That Fueled Crime

Passed in 2014, Prop 47 was sold as “smart justice” — reducing prison overcrowding by downgrading nonviolent felonies like shoplifting, drug possession, and theft under $950.

In practice, it gave criminals a playbook: keep it under $950 and walk free.

Police were stuck in a catch-and-release loop. Prosecutors lost leverage. Store shelves were stripped, small businesses stopped calling 911, and open-air drug markets flourished.

In 2024, voters finally had enough. They passed Proposition 36 (Prop 36), a direct correction to Prop 47’s failure. It reclassified certain drug and theft crimes as treatment-mandated felonies, added teeth to sentencing for organized theft, and restored court oversight.

Voters didn’t just pass Prop 36 — they overwhelmingly supported it. Because they’ve lived the nightmare Prop 47 created, and they’re done waiting for Sacramento to admit failure.

Minimum Wage Hikes: Raises that Lose Jobs

Politicians love boasting about raising the minimum wage: $15, $20, even $30 an hour. But small businesses, already struggling under inflation and regulations, are breaking.

When they can’t afford wages, they slash hours, lay off staff, or shut down entirely. Entry-level jobs vanish. Self-checkout kiosks replace workers.

This isn’t an innovation, it’s survival. And it’s driven by policy, not progress.

The ones hurt most? Teens, immigrants, and first-time workers.

And Sacramento offers no relief — no tax credits, no grace periods, just mandates, inspections, and fines.

The Rebuild It Right Roadmap

California’s progressive disasters have left us with potentially overbuilt neighborhoods, crime disguised as reform, and shuttered businesses crushed by wage mandates.

The excuses don’t work anymore.

It’s time to rebuild, from the ground up, not top-down. This roadmap is a starting point, grounded in reality, open to all who care about saving California:

  1. Local Control Over Housing. Stop the state from steamrolling local planning. Prioritize transit-connected, low-risk areas for growth. Rebuilding after a disaster must prioritize resilience, not speed.
  2. Fund Prop 36. Fully fund what was promised: more treatment beds, court oversight, mental health care, and coordination between law enforcement and recovery programs.
  3. Smarter Wage Policy. One-size-fits-all wage mandates ignore the diversity of California’s economy. We need phased, regionally adjusted wage floors — with support for small businesses through tax relief and training programs.

California Can Still Be Saved

California isn’t beyond saving — but the wrecking crew sure as hell won’t fix it.

Recovery starts with real leadership — the kind that listens to working families, not activist consultants. The kind that puts safety, sanity, and sovereignty back in local hands.

We don’t need more bills. We need to repeal the bad ones, rethink the broken ones, and rebuild with people — not developers, not donors, and not union bosses — at the center.

Fixing California means putting firefighters ahead of planners, small businesses ahead of schemes, and law-abiding citizens ahead of repeat offenders.

This isn’t left vs. right anymore. It’s survival.

The ballot box rebellions, recall efforts, and rising grassroots movements prove it: Californians are fed up. And they’re ready to rebuild California the right way.
