Well, we’ve seen a lot of predictable reactions from Democrats and their mainstream media allies in the aftermath of the stunt Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) pulled at a DHS press conference Thursday, but Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse’s (D-RI) response might have been the one that backfired the most.
When last we left you, MSDNC’s Nicole Wallace was melting down on the Obama bro-run Pod Save America podcast, calling the incident and how she had to cover it “one of the bleakest days of anchoring that I’ve ever had in the job.”
Unfortunately for Wallace, the press/leftist narrative on Padilla being forcibly removed from the room after acting aggressively towards DHS Secretary Kristi Noem got blown up a bit by an anti-Trump CNN security expert, who did a quick play by play analysis of the video and essentially concluded that the agents were in the right in escorting him away from Noem and out into the hallway.

But back to Sen. Whitehouse, he is like the Dan Goldman of the United States Senate in how he pompously acts like he’s the smartest man in America, and in how his massive ego enters a room before he does.
It is perhaps with those thoughts in mind that Whitehouse thought it would be a good idea to take to the Twitter/X machine to compare the Padilla incident to the days of forced segregation and the civil rights movement:
No. Just.. no.
Not only was it a dumb comparison to make, considering one of those pictures and the circumstances behind it is not like the other, it was also pretty stupid to make for another very important reason:
Let us not forget that Whitehouse also admitted to being a member of an all-white sailing club, too, as my RedState colleague Nick Arama reported in 2021:
…local Providence, Rhode Island media had nailed Whitehouse with a question about belonging to an all-white beach club. Whitehouse had been asked about the club before in 2006 and in 2017. In 2006, he said he was going to leave the club. But in responding to the questions last week, Whitehouse didn’t deny the club was all-white nor did he deny that he was still a member. His response was “I think the people who are running the place are still working on that, and I’m sorry it hasn’t happened yet” and “It’s a long tradition in Rhode Island, and there are many of them, and I think we just need to work our way through the issues, thank you.”
Now, Whitehouse just admitted to belonging to a ‘sailing’ club that “lacks diversity,” a second club distinct from the Bailey’s Beach club about which we have been reporting. But while he’s admitting that, he’s now also saying he is not a member of the beach club.
Just goes to show (once again) that Democrats are almost always guilty of what they accuse their Republican opposition of doing. But because it’s (D)ifferent when a Democrat does it, they think they can get away with the hypocrisy and double standards.
Not this time, buddy. Not this time.
