What a fine way to start the week of the first POTUS debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump with a story about someone in Chicago having to check for daily human excrement blocks away from the United Center, where the Democrats will meet later this summer to re-nominate Joe Biden.
I honestly can’t think of a better way to illustrate the last three-and-a-half years of the Biden presidency.
When I came across the beginning of this story HERE I almost spit out my coffee (if I drank coffee) because this is where our country is right now with this group of malcontents.
Colleen Cella keeps an eye out for human excrement outside the building she manages less than a mile from the United Center arena, where President Biden will be nominated at this summer’s Democratic National Convention.
The messes started showing up last fall after hundreds of migrants were moved into a property down the block, said Cella, who has worked at the low-rise office and warehouse building for six years. She has painted over graffiti that began appearing, shelled out thousands of dollars for new fences and security cameras, and periodically chases away migrants who have turned her loading dock into an impromptu car-repair shop.
“You feel for them, but the city has not been transparent about this at all,” she said, reflecting on the changes in what has been an up-and-coming neighborhood in recent years. “What about the businesses and homeowners who are being disrupted? We are paying the taxes.”
I feel for Cella, who has to do this, but if I’m reading between the lines, I think Biden and all those who support him are saying, “SCREW YOU and the people of Chicago.”
In fact, they are saying the same thing to all those cities that now are rethinking that neat little catchphrase “sanctuary city” with all the undocumented and illegal aliens here. You folks have to welcome this because those folks could be future Democrat voters.
Thankfully, the GOP plans on highlighting all this for the nation to see.
Chicago’s ills—from the migrant crisis to pockets of violent crime to shuttered business—threaten to cast a shadow over the August convention in this Democratic-run city. Republicans plan to make sure they do.
The city’s embrace of some liberal policies in recent years has made Chicago, like San Francisco, a target for GOP attacks on progressivism. Former President Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, has stoked that sentiment by repeatedly singling out the city for criticism.
As a former White House spokesperson under George W. Bush notes:
“When a convention comes to a city, the city becomes part of the convention,” said Republican consultant Alex Conant, a White House spokesman during George W. Bush’s second term and communications director for Sen. Marco Rubio’s 2016 presidential campaign. “Chicago’s problems will become part of the Democratic convention.”
I could not be more thrilled.
Not necessarily that an American city will be highlighted in all of its shortcomings.
However, an American city that is run with the mindset that is currently permeating the White House, has been shown both on a nationwide, statewide, and local level to be an absolute unmitigated disaster.
That is leftism.
That is progressvism.
It is idiocy, and it will be on full display for a few short days near the end of August, just months before the 2024 POTUS election.
I get the feeling that the mainstream Democrats leading up to Thursday’s debate are picking up not only on the mood of the country but the polls reflecting that mood. Which I covered a bit of in my post over the weekend about a former governor and CNN anchor who both decided to take potshots at the current occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

The hit list has been impressive so far, with commentators aligned with the Democrats coming out and offering barometers and measuring sticks that if Biden can’t accomplish X, then a talk needs to be had with him and his campaign to get him to drop out for the good of the Democratic Party. Former CNN talking head Chris Cuomo on Friday joined the fray of wondering if and when Joe will bite the campaign dust after the debate.
The main thing uniting these people in their concern is not that the country is being led by a mental invalid but the chances of the party winning and retaining the White House in 2024.
Also on Friday, Chris’ older sibling (don’t want to assume a gender because of bias) Andrew was on the Bill Maher show and tore into Joe over immigration and how the campaign is being run in general. As my collegue Levon Satamian worte here. Andrew Cuomo Torches Biden, Defends Trump
The former New York Governor (D) was open and honest about his thoughts on the open border and Trump’s hush money trial, among other topics.
Cuomo on Biden and the Democrats’ illegal immigration policy:
“His [Biden] immigration policy was a mistake. How you do it makes all the difference in the world. To just open the borders with no plan, you don’t know where they go, you don’t know who’s going to pay for them. Who did you even help?
The mayor [Adams] could have said no. The governor [Hochul] could have said no. New York has more of the ideological left. All are welcome. Now we’re finding out 200 thousand people later, you needed a plan; you needed to know what to do with these people.”
Whether Joe absolutely flubs against Trump on Thursday or not and eventually is on the ballot this November, the nominating convention in August in Chicago has the potential to be a bigger mess than the ’68 convention that was also in the Windy City.
I would say that I have plans to be there and look forward to recording all the action for both my radio show and you, the fine folks here at RedState. Unfortunately, I don’t think I have it in my current budget to purchase a brand new pair of Air Jordans to be exclusively used for the dodging of human excrement on the streets of Chicago around where the convention will be held.
