The coverage of the events surrounding President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday as our nation’s 47th president has already begun, it appears. One post on his Truth Social account, as my colleague Ward Clark shared earlier on Saturday, shared a moving video document of Trump’s journey.

He wrote:

The occasion prompts one to take a look at President Trump’s history – everything that has led us up to this moment. And, on his Truth Social platform (cross-posted to X), a new video from the Trump organization is giving us a good look at that history.

Some might know that the festivities surrounding the inauguration kick off on Saturday night in a less formal way, although still in Washington, D.C, with a fireworks display at Trump National Golf Club at 9:00 p.m. EST, according to a schedule released by the Trump Vance Inaugural Committee.

There are two events on Sunday, starting with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, at 1:00 p.m. EST

Then President-elect Trump will hold a Make America Great Again Rally at Capital One Arena at 3:00 p.m. EST. As RedState’s Nick Arama wrote recently, they’ve already announced the performers who will take part:

Guess what? The Village People are actually going to play at Turning Point’s Inaugural Eve Ball.
Not only that, they are also going to play at the victory rally at the Capitol One Arena in D.C., the day before the inauguration. Kid Rock and Billy Ray Cyrus will also be playing at that event.

Then, things change up to something of a more serious note starting Monday morning, as the 45th president and former (and future) First Lady Melania Trump attend a service at St. John’s Church starting in the 8:00 a.m. EST hour.

The most anticipated event comes next, the official swearing-in ceremony for the president-elect and Vice President-elect JD Vance, at 10:00 a.m. EST.

The inauguration will be followed by an indoor parade until around 5:30 pm. EST (but the time may be subject to change).

That’s followed by several balls, beginning with the Liberty Ball at 7:00 p.m. EST, which will include the 47th president’s remarks and first dance. The Commander in Chief Ball then starts at 7:30 p.m. EST.

But the inauguration events can’t really start until Trump gets back to Washington, D.C. That process is underway as we speak on Saturday evening.

Donald and Melania Trump are seen getting on “an official government plane,” leaving their Florida home at Mar-a-Lago for the last time before Monday’s inauguration. The clip was shared in an X post from an official account connected to the Trump 2024 presidential campaign.

The post reads:

BREAKING: President Donald J. Trump and the First Lady have boarded an official U.S. government plane and will soon depart for Washington, D.C.
MAGA!

Here’s the best part: You’ve got to give credit to whoever decided this flight should be given a cool “mission” name: “Special Air Mission 47”:

A little earlier on Saturday, Trump gave what might be one of his final interviews before returning to the White House, sharing his potential move on Day One about the TikTok ban, as I wrote.

After Monday, of course, the First Family won’t just be flying on any old government plane; Pres. Trump will climb aboard Air Force One, like the aircraft depicted at the top of this story.

It actually brings the inauguration story full circle, since it’s a shot by Associated Press photographer Manuel Balce Ceneta, taken on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021. The caption reads:

Former President Donald Trump and Melania Trump wave as they disembark from their final flight on Air Force One at Palm Beach International Airport in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Can’t wait until it’s all official!

UPDATE: We have one new detail on the Liberty Ball, via the Inaugural Committee, which shares in a press release that “the special guest performer will be three-time Grammy Award-winner,  hip-hop and country artist, Nelly.”

UPDATE: Thanks to CSPAN’s Howard Mortman, we know a little more about the plane (Air Force 2), as Trump lands at Dulles Airport in D.C.:
