The first poll after Tuesday’s debate shows that Dr. Mehmet Oz is leading his campaign for the U.S. Senate. This was a major victory for Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman from Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania’s race could determine control of the U.S. Senate. Fetterman had to prove to Pennsylvanians that his ability to serve in the U.S. Senate, despite tightening polls. He clearly didn’t do that.
The debate resulted in political betting markets moving heavily in Oz’s favor. Joe Scarborough from MSNBC called it “painful” and said it was worth watching. Democrats are “panickin” now and regret Fetterman’s decision to not debate Oz.
“He shouldn’t have debated. Any member his team that agreed for a debate should be fired, or never work again as that debate may’ve tanked him campaign,” Chris Kofinis, a veteran Democratic campaign strategist told NBC News. ”
“Everyone in Pennsylvania is writing about how he lost it, how he couldn’t complete sentences and how he misspoke words. His performance was obviously questionable and has been a major topic of conversation.
He stated that he hasn’t seen a better debate performance, but it is difficult to predict the effect on the race. This Insider Advantage poll looks awful for Fetterman.
