So the post-Hur Report numbers are in for reeling Joe Biden and they’re not good. Truth be told, if you’re a Democrat, they’re downright terrible — even cataclysmic. According to a new ABC News/Ipsos poll, nearly nine out of 10 Americans think Biden is too old to serve another term.
According to the poll, 86 percent of survey respondents think 81-year-old Biden, who would end a second term at age 86, is too old to be reelected, which includes 59 percent of Americans who think both Biden and former President Trump, who’s 77, are too old to be president.
Call me skeptical, but part of me thinks there were more than a few Trump haters included in the sample who took the opportunity to throw the former president under the bus along with Biden.
The ABC News article on the survey results was hilarious in its bashing of Trump — in a blatant attempt to “soften” the realization that nearly nine out of ten Americans are beyond concerned by the prospect of “a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory” being reelected president of the United States.
A perfect example of ABC’s spin:
Trump has been indicted on federal charges in relation to his handling of classified information while out of office — one of four indictments the former president currently faces while campaigning for reelection.
He denies all wrongdoing and has pleaded not guilty.
A June 2023 ABC News/Ipsos poll found that more Americans thought Trump should have been charged with a crime for his handling of classified documents, 48%, whereas 35% thought he should not have been and 17% said they did not know.
Hur highlighted the differences between the two cases in his report, noting that Trump allegedly refused to return the documents for several months, despite being given multiple chances, and “obstructed justice by enlisting others to destroy evidence and then to lie about it.”
“In contrast,” the report said, “Mr. Biden turned in classified documents to the National Archives and the Department of Justice, consented to the search of multiple locations including his homes, sat for a voluntary interview and in other ways cooperated with the investigation.”
Translation:
Look, we know you’re scared crapless by the mere thought of another four years of Joe Biden shaking hands with the air, being unable to remember when his son Beau died, or even what years he was the vice president, but don’t forget how bad Donald Trump is! Hell, if Trump wins the election, the country will become a ruthless dictatorship in a New York minute! Besides, Joe means well, so for God’s sake — vote for him!
Seriously, the lapdog liberal media couldn’t be more transparent if it tried.
The survey also found:
On the substance of the Hur Report, Americans are divided about whether Biden should have been charged with a crime for his handling of classified documents after he left office as vice president. On this question, similar shares say he should have been charged (38%), should not have been charged (34%), or do not know (28%).
On a different legal topic, a clear majority of Americans (66%) say that Donald Trump should not have immunity from criminal prosecution for actions he took while president, coming after a recent federal appeals court came to the same conclusion.
In the wake of a collapsed deal to shore up border restrictions in exchange for funding for Israel and Ukraine, Americans are somewhat split, with more blaming Biden and both parties in Congress than Donald Trump.
[A]bout half of Americans (49%) say that Biden deserves a great deal or good amount of blame for Congress not passing legislation intended to decrease illegal border crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border. Similar shares blame Democrats in Congress (51%) and Republicans in Congress (53%) while slightly fewer blame Donald Trump (38%).
No real surprises, there.
The Bottom Line
As is the case with most 2024 presidential election polls, it’s clear that the country is sharply divided. While one side thinks Biden’s the guy and Trump’s the Devil’s spawn, the other side thinks the opposite.
That said, following the release of the damning Hur Report, not even Democrat politicos can honestly deny that Biden has lost it — and that he’s continuing to lose even more of it.
But the reality that nearly nine out 10 Americans don’t want Joe Biden anywhere near the White House after January 20, 2025, speaks volumes. And no amount of lipstick slathered on the proverbial pig by the liberal media can change that reality.
