A Newport Beach, CA Homeowner Stood Their Ground. Now Criminals Have Been Warned.

On Tuesday in Newport Beach, California, a home invasion was thwarted by the homeowner who exercised his Second Amendment rights. These are the same Second Amendment rights that California Governor Gavin Newsom wants to strip not only from his citizens (he’s been working at it for years), but the entire nation (let’s not let him).

This is the way.

From the Newport Beach P.D. statement:

The Newport Beach Police Department (NBPD) is investigating a home invasion robbery that occurred in the early morning of April 16 in the Newport Coast neighborhood. The incident is contained and there are currently no threats to the community.
The crime appears to be a targeted incident involving a prior connection between the suspects and victims.
Police received a 911 call at approximately 4:45 a.m. reporting a possible home invasion near Newport Coast Drive and Pelican Hill Road North.  The caller reported that one of the residents shot a suspect while inside the home. The injured suspect and one other suspect then fled the house.

The response was swift: Not only Newport Beach Police officers but a SWAT Team was deployed. This area is a private, gated community that normally does not see such action.

Police said the two suspects entered the home in what investigators believe to be a targeted attack, and the homeowner fired shots at them.
“We know that there is a relationship between the two suspects and the victims, the residents,” said Sergeant Steve Oberon during a news conference. “It was a home invasion. Whether it was a robbery or what their other intentions are, I don’t know at this time.”
The suspect who was shot by the homeowner was found outside the residence in possession of a firearm and taken into custody, police said. He was hospitalized for treatment.
Officers began searching for the second suspect, and he was found in the bushes outside of the apartment with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The names of the suspects were not released.

Another ridiculous California law that protects criminals, but no matter. The homeowner took care of his business, and all law enforcement had to do was clean up and investigate, as it should be.

The NBPD press release discussed the second suspect who saved the homeowner the trouble of confrontation by shooting himself in the head.

The second suspect was located in bushes near the victim’s home. He was found with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
All four people from inside the residence were safely evacuated and uninjured.
The incident is being actively investigated.

Orange County is a primarily red district in deep blue California, and Newport Beach is one of its more center-right cities. They removed themselves from California’s “League of Cities” (sounds like Woodrow Wilson’s “League of Nations“), which was formed to supposedly advocate for cities in the state capitol, but really does nothing but force Sacramento’s leftist policies down the cities’ throats.

Newport Beach’s neighbor, Huntington Beach is having none of it either. The people worked hard to re-elect their City Attorney, Michael Gates, whose main goal is to sue the pants off Newsom for his overreach into the local school system and his attempts to force 15-minute housing on the beach town. A worthy endeavor if there ever was one.

Finally, Orange County has District Attorney Todd Spitzer, who won re-election handily and has let it be known that the rampant crimeno-cash bail, and light sentencing happening in Los Angeles County will not be tolerated in Orange.

Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer is sending a stern warning to anyone planning large-scale thefts in his jurisdiction in the wake of recent high-profile smash-and-grab crimes.
“I will throw the book at you, and I will charge you with everything I can charge you with,” Spitzer said. “And I will hold the judges accountable if they don’t back us up.”
Retailers in Southern California have recently been victimized by large-scale thefts when groups of people show up in groups for mass shoplifting events or to enter stores and smash and grab from display cases.
Spitzer said a majority of the smash-and-grabs currently being prosecuted in Orange County involve people from Los Angeles and outlying jurisdictions, or Chilean nationals exploiting a visa waiver program.
The DA told Eyewitness News on Wednesday that he is cracking down on such crimes with increased bail and maximum charges.
“If you’re a ‘revolving door’ in L.A., and you think you’re gonna get away with that in my county you’ve got another thing coming,” Spitzer said. “We’re charging every single thing that we can, including all strikes.”

Although some mayors talk political doublespeak, not so in Newport Beach. Mayor Will O’Neill visited the scene of the shooting and had this to say.

Newport Beach is the new FAFO City. Kudos to them for holding the line for their citizens.

  1. Yay! Looks like at least two people in California with guts and smart, Will O’Neill and the homeowner. Now, only a few million more needed to get rid of Newsom and the other liberal morons living there. Geaux Trump. God Bless the United States of America and FJB.
