Florida is growing faster than the rest of the country economically. The state has seen an increase in job growth of 0.7 percentage — twice as fast as the national rate — according to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R). Ron DeSantis (R), announced Friday.

During Friday’s press conference, the governor stated that Florida had added 57,000 more jobs in April. “This is a 0.7 percent increase, which is twice as fast as the national average.”

The governor stated that Florida’s unemployment rate now stands at three percent. This is significantly lower than the national average of 3.6%. Furthermore, for 17 consecutive months, Florida’s unemployment rates have been below the national average. Additionally, the state has seen 24 consecutive months of private sector job growth.

He said: So even though we saw the unemployment rate fall, it was because the state’s labor force was growing. That’s what you want. This is partly due to leisure and hospitality. People were predicting that Florida would suffer from COVID. However, because of our tourism-based state, Florida and Hawaii were likely to suffer the most economic loss.

He continued to say that many things were out of the state’s hands, including the suspension of international travel. He said that this is far more than our 2019 levels. He attributed the state’s success and openness to its citizens.
