Supreme Court Overturns Roe v. Wade, Casey With Dobbs Decision

0

Friday’s Supreme Court decision in Dobbs-v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case was widely anticipated. This case overturned the Rose v. Wade & Casey pro-abortion precedent.

Justice Samuel Alito wrote that “The Constitution doesn’t confer a right or privilege to abortion; Roe & Casey are overruled and the authority to regulate the abortion is returned to people and their elected representatives.” It is time to pay attention to the Constitution and bring the issue of abortion back to the elected representatives of the people.

Justices Roberts and Thomas joined him in the majority opinion.

“With sorrow–for the Court, but also for the many millions of American women who today have lost a fundamental constitutional protection—-we dissent.” [sic] From Roe… to Sorrow. In a joint dissent, Justices Sotomayor, Kagan, and Breyer wrote that it truly was sad.

Each state will be able to decide how to regulate abortion. Expect dark blue states to have the most extreme pro-abortion policies, while states in the dark red may ban abortion altogether. Some states may allow abortion in certain situations only.

Dobbs vs. Mississippi concerns a law that makes abortion illegal within the first 15 weeks. SCOTUS heard arguments on November 20, 2021. Although the Court was expected to issue its decision in June, it was leaked by someone in a shocking act of subversion. The leaked draft was published by Politico on May 2, causing a stir among abortion supporters.

Only 34% of Americans support abortion during the second trimester. Only 19% believe it is okay. Some states, including Oregon, New York, and New Jersey, permit abortion until birth. Over half of U.S. States allow it well after the baby is viable. Roe v. Wade required the whole country to allow abortion of pre-viable infants and allowed individual states to approve the procedure throughout pregnancy.

Arizona Gubernatorial Candidate Kari Lake Leaves CNN Reporter Speechless

Republican Kari Lake is running to be Arizona governor. Although it’s a very crowded GOP primary field, Lake has been endorsed in large part by President Donald Trump.

Trafalgar Group gave her 12 points.

She may have done just that on Thursday. With her comments about a CNN reporter, Lake almost set the internet ablaze. Kyung Lah, a reporter for CNN, was trying to get her for an interview. Lake, who has worked for KSAZ-TV as a media specialist for 22 years, demonstrated her ability to deal with CNN.

Lake mentioned CNN+, a streaming service in which CNN spent a lot of money but was canceled after just a few weeks. It failed to attract viewers. Lake stated, “I’ll do an Interview with You… As Long as it Airs on CNN+. Does that still exist?” It was amazing to see Lah’s expression when Lake said it. “I didn’t think so because people don’t like what your guys are selling which is propaganda. Boom. Boom.

This earned her lots of praise.

CNN has repeatedly shown that they don’t provide objective news. It’s time someone pointed this out to them. Although they may be making an effort to change, most Republicans still have a lot of work to do if they want to overcome the bias they displayed under Jeff Zucker’s former head.

This will be a great help to Lake and the base, who want to see Republicans who fight back and are not willing to go along with the rest — like the 15 Republicans that voted for the gun control bill in the Senate.

Major Retail Chain Refuses to Give COVID Shots to Kids Under 5

0

Publix, the Southeast’s largest retail chain, has decided not to provide COVID-19 shots to children younger than five years old. Publix stated on its corporate website that it is refusing to administer the COVID vaccine for children under five years old. According to Tampa Bay Times, Publix spokespersons declined to provide any explanations or other information about the company’s decision.

Publix’s customer support Twitter account directs customers to “speak to pediatrician’s offices, community-health centers, children’s hospitals and public health clinics regarding availability at this moment.”

With nearly 1,300 stores in seven southern states, most of which are in the Sunshine State, the Florida-headquartered corporation was a major player in executing that state’s vaccination program in 2021. In March 2022, Florida’s Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo was the first to recommend against COVID shots for children in good health. Florida state guidelines recommend that parents with children who have comorbidities or have underlying medical conditions consider getting their kids vaccinated against COVID.

Recent developments in Florida have seen the state become the first to decline pre-orders for pediatric COVID shots from the federal government.

Gov. Ron DeSantis stated this on Thursday. “These are people who have zero chance of getting anything.” Ron DeSantis assured Floridians on Thursday that there are no state programs trying to give COVID jabs infants, toddlers, and newborns. This is not what we consider appropriate and that’s why we won’t be using our resources to do so.

DeSantis claimed that the FDA panel who approved shots for toddlers and infants was doing so to placate parents panicking. “To issue an emergency-use authorization to a 6-month-old child or a 1-year old just to ease anxiety is not acceptable.

Publix can order its own supplies even though the state of Florida does not have pre-ordered doses for infant and toddler vaccines. The Federal Retail Pharmacy Program is the program that allows Publix to order COVID shots from the federal government.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Publix competitor Walmart will offer vaccinations for children below five years old but not for children under three years of age. Walmart spokesperson Tyler Thomason said that while we expect most of these vaccines will be distributed to pediatric providers but that we plan to distribute authorized vaccines for children ages 3-5 as supply permits.” Thomason also stated to the Times via email.

Abortion Rights To Expand In Blue States After Roe Vs. Wade Overturned In Dobbs Decision

0

While nearly half of the country is poised to ban abortions after Roe v. Wade was overturned, many blue states are already taking steps to expand access and protect abortion rights ahead of Friday’s Supreme Court ruling that overturned the 1973 landmark law.

The Guttmacher Institute, a research group that supports abortion rights, reports that at least 16 states and Washington, D.C. have laws protecting abortion. At least 11 Democrat-controlled legislatures are moving to expand abortion access to prepare for the Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision on Friday. This ruling overturned Roe v. Wade, leaving the issue up to the states.

While some blue states like Illinois and New York have made abortion a fundamental human right in recent years, others have intensified their efforts to include abortion rights in state constitutions. Colorado’s Democratic governors and New Jersey’s Democratic Governor signed laws that codify abortion. California’s Democratic Governor has also done so. Gavin Newsom pledged support for a constitutional amendment that voters can decide.

Vermont’s Democratic legislators passed a constitutional amendment to guarantee the right of abortion in February. The Vermont voters will decide on November 11.

Wisconsin and Michigan have Democratic governors that oppose anti-abortion laws. Michigan Governor. Gretchen Whitmer sued the Michigan Supreme Court in April to end the state’s 1931 abortion ban. Tony Evers called for the repeal and revocation of an 1849 state law making abortion a crime.

Evers was part of a group of 17 Democratic governors that included Whitmer. They sent a letter last month to Congress requesting that senators codify Roe v. Wade through the Women’s Health Protection Act. The House passed it last September.

In a show vote, the Senate failed to pass the bill on May 11, in order to draw clear political lines ahead the midterm elections. The bill required 60 votes to pass, but it was defeated in a 51-49 vote with West Virginia Democratic Senator Joe Manchin voting no along with all 50 Republicans.

According to the Guttmacher Institute, other measures protecting abortion rights have passed at most one chamber in six states as well as Washington, D.C., while they have been introduced in 29 additional states and Washington, D.C.

Blue states have taken steps to increase abortion access, increasing funding for the government and recognising more providers. For example, Oregon Democrats passed a $15 million bill to cover abortion costs for women from other states. Physician assistants, registered nurses and other health professionals in Connecticut and Washington will soon be able to perform abortions.

After e-cigarette company Vapour, the Wall Street Journal reported that FDA ordered Juul devices banned by the District of Columbia on Friday was temporarily halted by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.

Thursday’s FDA statement stated that the FDA has not received any clinical information that suggests an immediate hazard from Juul devices. However, it said that there is insufficient evidence to evaluate the potential toxicological hazards of the product.

Juul retorted on Friday, arguing it would “suffer significant irreparable damage.”

Juul stated that in our applications submitted more than two years ago, “we believe we adequately characterized the toxicological profiles of JUUL products including comparisons with combustible cigarettes, and that this data, together with the whole of the evidence, meets statutory standards of being ‘appropriate to the protection of public health.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Juul may file for bankruptcy if it cannot avoid FDA’s ban.

Democrat Elissa Slotkin Trails Republican Challenger Tom Barrett

Recent polls show that Republican state senator Tom Barrett could challenge incumbent Democrat Rep. Elissa slotkin (MI), as President Joe Biden’s approval ratings for job are still in decline.

Slotkin is two points ahead of Barrett, despite having a substantial advantage in name recognition. However, Republicans have an 11-point advantage on the generic ballot and Biden is 26 point underwater in the district that he won in his presidential campaign. Biden’s latest approval rating was the lowest ever nationally.

Politico first reported an internal poll by the National Republican Campaign Committee, which showed Barrett leading the incumbent at 46.1 percent to 44.6%, with 10.3 percent undecided.

The internal poll found that Slotkin’s vote is at below 50 percent. This is the lowest level she’s been at since she won the seat in 2018.

Barrett, an Army veteran who Slotkin attacked for his training with the Army, was elected to Michigan’s House in 2014. He was then elected to the State Senate in 2018. After the poll’s message testing, he showed a greater lead — in percent of voters choosing him.

After messaging testing, 51.9 percent indicated that they would vote to elect Barrett, and 41.9 percent indicated they would vote to elect the Democrat.

After testing, the polling matches that of the generic ballot for Michigan’s Seventh Congressional District. The generic ballot showed that 50.3 percent would vote for Republican candidates, and only 39.3% would vote for Democrat candidates. 10.4 percent said they were undecided.

In the congressional district, Biden’s approval of his job is low. While only 36.2 percent approve of Biden’s presidency, 62.5 percent disapprove. Only 1.3 percent were unconvinced.

Cygnal, in Michigan’s Seventh Congressional District, conducted the NRCC’s intern poll from June 14-16. The poll surveyed 400 respondents in the district. There was a margin for error of plus/minus 4.70 percent.

Nationally, Biden’s approval rating fell to just 32 percent on CIVIQS’ rolling job-approval index last Saturday. This is the lowest of his presidency with a 57% disapproval. One in ten survey participants didn’t approve or disapprove.

Overall, Biden’s approval rating in 48 states is below average, including California, which is a dark blue state, and Delaware, his home state. His national net approval is negative 25.

Mike Berg, the spokesperson for NRCC, stated that Elissa Slotkin could do better if she did not spend too much time in Washington supporting Joe Biden’s massive tax increases and inflationary spending sprees.
