Transgender surgery is predicted to grow to $5 billion by the end of the decade.
Grand View Research recently reported that the sector had a valuation of $1.9 billion last year. It is expected to grow at a compound annual rate greater than 11% by 2030, according to Grand View Research. The analysis stated that the sector will see growth due to rising gender dysphoria rates and increasing numbers of people opting to have gender confirmation surgeries.
According to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Los Angeles, a separate analysis found that 78% of transgender males — females who identify with the opposite sex — had experienced gender dysphoria at the age of seven.
Grand View Research predicts that demand for “gender-affirming operations” will “accelerate over the next years as hospitals resume non-emergency services. Telehealth is also being used to consult patients. This phenomenon is “expected to have a positive impact on the market’s growth in the coming years.”
Grand View Research stated that while insurance companies like Unicare and Aetna may cover certain components of sex-reassignment surgery, such as hysterectomies or ovariectomies through their coverage, “government support” is driving the market through Medicare.
This report is a result of scrutiny of hospitals providing “transgender” services to young adults, especially when such services are offered to children.
We recently obtained footage of a Vanderbilt doctor highlighting the amount of money these surgeries can bring in. “Chest reconstruction” operations — which can be done on minors — can bring in $40,000 and “female to male bottom surgeries” can make $100,000. Another Vanderbilt doctor called religious objections problematic and stated that doctors who refuse to perform these surgeries should be subject to “consequences.”
Since then, the revelations have attracted the attention of federal and state legislators.
“Using children to make political and financial gains is deeply troubling. Experts agree that not enough clinical trials have been conducted to prove the safety and effectiveness of these drugs on children,” Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), wrote in a letter addressed to the Food and Drug Administration. Although these drugs are not approved for children with gender dysphoria, the left insists that they be used.
However, left-leaning state officials are enforcing laws concerning child gender transitions. Governor Gavin Newsom (D, CA) recently signed legislation that prohibits health professionals from helping out-of-state efforts to prevent a child from receiving gender transitions via surgery, cross-sex hormones, or puberty blockers. Newsom signed the bill by declaring that California believes in equality and acceptance. “We believe no one should face prosecution or be persecuted to get the care they need, including gender-affirming care.”
Some hospitals are expanding their services beyond male-to-female or male-to-male. The Daily Wire also found that 47 US pediatric gender clinics have expanded their patient criteria to include children who are described as “gender creative,” “gender diverse” or “gender not conforming.”
Research shows that up to 90% of transgender youth who identify as transgender but are not encouraged or supported to socially and medically transition will never be able to call themselves transgender as adults.
