The Hill reported that a federal grand jury indicted Peter Navarro, an ex-Trump administration economic advisor, for failing to comply with subpoenas issued by the House Jan.6 Select Committee.

According to the outlet, Navarro is facing two misdemeanor contempt of Congress charges. According to The Hill, Navarro’s indictment has been made public. He could spend as much as a year in prison and face fines up to $100,000 for each count if he is found guilty.

According to the Associated Press, the first count is for avoiding a formal deposition and the second for failing to provide documents the committee requested to review. In April, the committee voted to disqualify Navarro.

Fox News’s Chad Pergram, Fox News’ correspondent pointed out that Steve Bannon was the only person the Department of Justice pursued after a vote of the committee to hold him contemptuous, despite Dan Scavino and former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows also receiving contempt votes.

1) Peter Navarro is now the second figure who has not complied with a subpoena by the 1/6 committee to be prosecuted by the DoJ.

Former Trump aide Steve Bannon defied a subpoena. The House held Bannon in contempt and the DoJ decided to prosecute him.
