California Gov. Gavin Newsom asked the Department of Justice if sending migrants to other areas of the country could be considered kidnapping, or another federal crime.

Newsom wrote to Attorney General Merrick Galrland and asked whether Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Florida Governor. Ron DeSantis sent illegal immigrants from their states to destinations like New York City, Washington D.C. Chicago and Martha’s Vineyard.

DeSantis sent migrants to Massachusetts last Wednesday, after promising to relocate them to “sanctuary destinations”.

Following efforts by Texas Governor. Greg Abbott has committed to relocating thousands of illegal immigrants who crossed the state’s southern frontier. Abbott’s administration spent approximately $15 million to charter buses for migrants who wanted to travel to “sanctuary” cities in Chicago and Washington D.C.
