Texas Gov. Abbott Cancels In-Person Appearance At NRA Convention, Will Visit Uvalde Instead

0

Texas Governor. Greg Abbott cancelled his plans to attend the National Rifle Association annual meeting this weekend. Instead, he will appear via video and visit Uvalde, Texas. This is after a school shooting that left 21 people dead.
Abbott was originally scheduled to attend the convention at Houston, where prominent Republicans such as Sen. Ted Cruz or former President Donald Trump are scheduled to speak.

Numerous high-profile figures including Don McLean and Larry Gatlin have cancelled their appearances at this year’s NRA conference. This was after Salvador Ramos, 18, entered Robb Elementary School in Uvalde Texas on Tuesday, and shot 19 children and two teachers.

Trump stated Wednesday that he will keep his promise to attend the event.

Daniel Defense, a gun manufacturer, announced Thursday that it had canceled plans for promoting products at the event.

The NRA expects that tens of thousands will attend the annual meeting. This is the first large gathering of NRA members for three years after a hiatus in the aftermath of the pandemic. It follows decades of hosting the annual event.

Scientific Journal Goes Woke With Editorial Calling For Gender Identity In Study Proposals

0

According to a Nature editorial, the long-respected scientific journal Nature seems to be awakening. It states that Nature journals have raised the bar for gender reporting in research. Authors will be asked to give details about how sex was considered in study design.

The editorial mentions that certain journals have “encouraged” reporting about sex/gender “for years”, but they cited insufficient data reporting on both sex/gender — as though the two were different.

The editorial continues under the heading “Accounting to sex and gender makes science better”:

The participants will be required to give data that is gender- and sex-disaggregated, and they will be informed of their consent to share and report individual-level data. These changes will apply to studies that involve human participants, other vertebrates, or cell lines in which sex is a relevant consideration.

A further four journals, Nature Communications, Nature Medicine, Nature Communications and Nature Metabolism, will raise awareness about the new recommendations starting in June. This is done to increase understanding of how gender and sex reporting are already part of research design, data collection, and analysis in journals that publish them. Journals will also assess the reception of changes by authors and reviewers so that we can improve upon them as we gain experience.

The editorial mentions drug studies and even admits to the narrative of gender identity activists when it says that those studies have different effects on men and women.

Debra Soh is a sex neuroscientist and host of The Dr. Debra Soh Podcast. She also wrote The End of Gender: Debunking Myths About Sex and Identity in Our Society.

Nature said that studies should recognize sex and sex, and that sex is a biological attribute and gender is socially constructed. Some intersex people and transgender people identify more with opposite sex than their birth sexuality. However, this is due to biological influences such as prenatal hormonal exposure. Why can’t transgender people feel comfortable in their birth sex if gender is a social construct?

While being open to minorities’ concerns is a good thing, it doesn’t make any sense to rewrite science to include 0.8% of the population. Scientists are being hampered by activists’ ideologies that seperate gender and sex.

Soh said that she was “saddened by academia being “debased”, putting “threats, deceit” above “knowledge, understanding” and that science cannot be regained once trust is lost.

Elon Musk Calls Out AOC, Asks Twitter If They Trust Politicians Or Billionaires

0

Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest man, is trolling liberals online again with his tweets. His latest tweets were a poke at liberal politicians like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), who believe billionaires are a curse to society and should be taxed heavily.

An eccentric billionaire and Tesla CEO, who is also the potential future owner of Twitter, created a Twitter poll to ask his 95.3 million followers if they trust billionaires more than politicians.

Musk tweeted, “Who do trust less?” Real question.” He offered the choices of “Politicians”, or “Billionaires”. The poll had gathered over 3,000,000 votes as of Friday afternoon. 75.7% selected “Politicians”, while 24.3% chose “Billionaires” as the person they trust least.

Musk poked fun at one politician and her progressive fans, and responded to his poll by asking that the congresswoman do one for her supporters.

Musk tweeted: “. Musk tweeted, “.

The Bronx Congresswoman has repeatedly mentioned taxing the wealthy, and even wore a dress with a “Tax the Rich” logo to the Met Gala. In an interview, she also stated that she would love to sell her Tesla after her CEO made fun of her on Twitter.

Musk seemed to be interested in seeing who her supporters trust less.

Many liberal blue-checks came together to comment on the provocative series. While some made observations, others were more uptight.

Nina Burleigh, a journalist, was not amused by Musk’s inability to stop focusing on the Uvalde school shooting in Texas. She tweeted: “Wouldn’t it be remarkable and admirable if @elonmusk used its enormous platform to speak against loose gun laws which enable massacres?”

Cenk Uygur, Young Turks host, corrected Musk by tweeting: “This is a trick query. Our politicians are suckers because they serve the wealthy. They do everything for their donors. They accept legalized bribes, and they do what is asked of them. The reason politicians are so corrupt is that they were bought by billionaires.

“The worst billionaires are those who think they are politicians @elonmusk. Not that I have any names in particular… @BillGates,” tweeted conservative YouTuber Viva Frei.

Jenna Ellis, a former Trump lawyer, commented on Musk’s tweet tweeting that “Billionaires invest their own money.” My money goes to politicians.”

“Guard the public liberty with jealous attention. “Suspect anyone who comes close to that precious jewel,” tweeted Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch.

Gad Saad, a psychiatrist and author, got very technical in his assessment of the poll. He tweeted, “Politicians, multicellular parasites.” They are a net loss to society. Many billionaires are net beneficiaries, even though they have high levels of scamming.

Brigitte Gabriel, founder of ACT for America, offered a more nuanced perspective by tweeting, “I believe you, but I don’t trust Bill Gates.”

Brandon Herrera, a YouTuber, came out to support billionaires. He tweeted, “Billionaires often had to grind at an opportunity for their money. Politicians must find ways to make their money.

Nina Turner, former Ohio State Senator, tweeted: “Trick question. The politicians are bought and work for the wealthy. They’re synonymous.”

Trump May Have Settled on a Running Mate for Potential 2024 Bid

0

Trump has yet to announce whether he will run for the presidency in 2024. It is widely believed that Trump will announce his decision after the 2022 midterm elections.

According to sources within Trump’s inner circle, one name is most likely to be his vice presidential nominee: Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.

CNN was told multiple times by sources that Stefanik is interested and that “conversations regarding including Stefanik in a future Trump ticket”.

CNN reports that Trump is “interviewing close friends, allies on their opinions about Stefanik. One of the many Republican women he might be interested in for the potential slot to become VP. However, he hasn’t ruled out other male candidates. ”

One Trump advisor said, “Trump is fond of Elise Stefanik. There is a part of Trump who thinks he needs a female VP. He definitely likes her, likely because of how effusive she is to him”.

Stefanik’s group currently denies the idea of joining an international party.

Alex DeGrasse, a senior advisor to Stefanik, stated that Congresswoman Stefanik is 100% dedicated to serving New York City’s 21st Congressional District. She is also the House Republican Conference Chair and leads the effort to retake Congress in 2022 in order to fire Nancy Pelosi.

Trump, who was born in New York and has lived there his whole life, moved to Florida in 2019 to be with a running partner. But is Stefanik capable of balancing the ticket adequately? I’m not sure. However, Trump has plenty of options and time to think about it.

Schumer Blocks Senate GOP School Safety Bill

0

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday blocked a bill to improve school safety that Republicans are shaming.

Sen. Ron Johnson (Republican from Wisconsin) requested unanimous consent to pass the Luke and Alex School Safety Act after the massacre at Uvalde Elementary School in Texas that resulted in the deaths of 19 children and 2 teachers.

Named after Parkland shooting victims Alex Schachter and Luke Hoyer, the bill would require that the Department of Homeland Security establish a Federal Clearinghouse on School Safety Best Practices for state and local education and law enforcement agencies, institutions of higher learning, health professionals, as well as the general public. It would also require DHS to collect data analytics from the clearinghouse and user feedback about the implementation of the best practices and recommendations. Also, any evaluations based on these best practices or recommendations will be required.

With the passage of the bill, the clearinghouse, which is already accessible at SchoolSafety.gov would be codified in law.

Schumer opposed Johnson’s request and claimed on Twitter that the bill could see “more guns in schools”.

Schumer tweeted, “The truth is that there were officers at the Texas school.” They were able to get past the shooter. We need real solutions. We will vote for gun legislation, starting with the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act.

Schumer stated that the legislation could be considered on the Senate floor if Republicans agreed to debate the domestic terrorist bill. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Johnson said it was “a sad day” for the United States Senate.

Johnson tweeted later: “It’s not surprising that the Democrat leader would lie to us about the bill he blocked, which Parkland parents have been trying for years. The Dems don’t want solutions. They want wedge issues to keep them in power. Sick.”

Senator Rick Scott (Republican from Florida), who sponsored the bill, called Schumer “a liar, and a hack”.

This was a bill I worked on with the parents of Parkland victims. It’s named after them. You’re a liar and a hack. https://t.co/WKFMLTjT4x

— Rick Scott (@SenRickScott) May 25, 2022

Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who also sponsored the bill, tweeted: “The Truth: Schumer blocked the bipartisan bill that makes school safety clearinghouse schoolsafety.gov permanently because radical left-wing activists oppose it.”

The Senate will vote on Thursday on whether to approve the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act. This bill was passed by the House last week following the massacre in Buffalo that left 10 dead.

The bill would require DHS, DOJ, and FBI to report jointly on domestic terrorism. It also creates “an interagency taskforce to analyze and combat white supremacist or neo-Nazi invasion of uniformed services and federal enforcement agencies.”

Anything Goes Through November, With a Recount in Pennsylvania and a Runoff in Alabama

0

The legacy media confirms what everyone knew: The Pennsylvania Senate race between Dr. Mehmet Oz, a television personality, and David McCormick (hedge fund CEO and former Undersecretary of the Treasury) will be recounted.

We reported that the race was close on May 17, with McCormick trying to beat Oz. McCormick began to lose ground as more people were counted. He made an antagonistic move, which was reported by our sister site Townhall.

McCormick filed Monday’s lawsuit in an attempt to make Pennsylvania election officials count absentee ballots and mail-in ballots, even if the outer envelope did not bear a date handwritten on it.

This is dangerous territory to tread on, considering the past year-and-a-half. McCormick nevertheless went there.

According to the complaint, Pennsylvania county election boards “refuse” to count ballots if the voter fails to handwrite a date on an envelope, but otherwise comply with all applicable requirements. McCormick also claims that this refusal to count ballots that do not meet Pennsylvania’s requirements “violates the rights to vote under the federal Civil Rights Act as well as the Pennsylvania Constitution.”

McCormick’s play was rejected by the RNC and state GOP, but they allowed the development of Pennsylvania’s electoral rules to continue.

So, here we are.

CNN: After Mehmet Oz, a celebrity heart surgeon, and Dave McCormick, a former hedge fund director, Pennsylvania’s Republican Senate Primary is heading for a recount.

Leigh Chapman, acting secretary of the state of Pennsylvania, made Wednesday’s announcement. She noted that the gap between the candidates was only 902 votes. This is after all counties in Pennsylvania had reported their unofficial results on Tuesday to the state — within the 0.5% threshold for an automatic recount. Chapman reported that Oz had 419,365 votes while McCormick had only 418,463 votes. These totals are not shown on the state’s results page.

Trump’s endorsement of Oz has been controversial. So has his endorsement of Mo Brooks, an Alabama Rep.

Many considered Trump’s retractions fatal, but they ended up giving Brooks’ race new momentum. Brooks was able to keep Katie Britt (former chief of staff to Sen. Richard Shelby) and Mike Durant, from getting to 50 percent. Brooks will face Britt in the runoff election. Britt is calling for a debate prior to the June 21 runoff.

Brooks stated Tuesday night, “My thought was, let’s get at it.” “If you can defend the attack ads that my team has launched against you, I challenge you. You know what? They are lying. I will expose them.”

“And if there are those types of debates, she should bring whatever she likes to be ready for the fight. It’s going to be a fight. There will be no pauses. It will be Muhammad Ali.”

Katie Britt seems to not be open to the idea.

A Wednesday inquiry by the Britt campaign regarding their position on a debate did not receive a response.

Why muddy the waters when so much of Alabama media is carrying Katie Britt’s water and presumptively projecting her victory?

Britt’s victory at Tuesday’s polls may indicate that she doesn’t need to participate in a debate. Although she did not win more than half the votes to avoid the runoff she still received the most votes from 62 of Alabama’s 67 counties. Brooks won Madison County by nearly 2,000 votes, almost 3% more than Britt. Britt was outdistancing Britt by only 34 votes in Limestone County.

Brooks won Britt in a neighboring county by less than 1 percent of the vote. This is Morgan County, where Decatur is located.

Brooks won Shelby County, Birmingham’s metro area, by less than 1 percent and rural Blount County by 141 votes (less than 2%) outside of Birmingham.

Both Senate races can be viewed as indicators of a national trend, as I concluded in Wednesday’s analysis. Although there may be some common electoral patterns, it seems that anything can happen through November. It is not clear that endorsements are important or that candidates who appear to have an edge in a race will win it. It is obvious that voters don’t want to be patronized and pigeonholed. They want to scrutinize the candidates for their own purposes, then make their decisions.

As it should be.

Kevin Spacey Charged With Sexually Assaulting 3 Men in UK

0

British prosecutors have accused Kevin Spacey of four counts of sexual assault on three men in the U.K.

The Crown Prosecution Service announced Thursday that the charges against Spacey, an award-winning actor, “follow a review by the Metropolitan Police.” The agency also stated that Spacey, who is 62, was charged with “causing another person to engage in penetrative sexual activities without consent.”

These alleged incidents occurred in London in March 2005, August 2008, and April 2013, and in western England in April 2013. They are in their 40s and 30s now.

Rosemary Ainslie is the head of the Special Crime Division of the service. She said that the charges were based on a review of evidence from London’s Metropolitan Police.

British police interrogated Spacey in 2019 over claims made by several men that Spacey had assaulted them.

Between 2004 and 2015, the Old Vic Theatre in London was run by the former star of “House of Cards”.

Spacey was awarded a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for “The Usual Suspects,” 1995, and a Lead Actor Oscar for “American Beauty” 1999.

In 2017, Anthony Rapp, an actor accused of assaulting Rapp at a party in the 1980s when Rapp was just a teenager, brought an abrupt end to his famed career.

Spacey has denied the allegations and is currently trying for a New York sex abuse lawsuit against Rapp.

A criminal case brought against him, an indecent assault and battery charge stemming from the alleged groping of an 18-year-old man at a Nantucket resort, was dismissed by Massachusetts prosecutors in 2019.

Hillary Clinton Shares Deceptive Gun Violence Chart

0

Hillary Clinton sent a misleading gun violence chart to Twitter and included text suggesting that “It’s The Guns” are causing the crimes. Gun Policy published the chart. It compares the U.S. to its peers, a group that appears to include countries with high income.

Gun control advocates can avoid comparing the U.S. with other countries by limiting the use of this category. This allows them to skip the chance to compare the U.S. with its neighbor Mexico. Breitbart News reported on August 17th 2016 that Mexico has “restrictive” gun controls, including extensive background checks. However, the homicide rate there is more than five times the U.S.

It is also possible to see that gun violence in the world is per capita, rather than comparing it with “high-income” countries.

PolitiFact proved the wisdom of changing the argument to a per capita one after Beto O’Rourke stated that “no other country is even close to” the U.S. in gun violence deaths.

PolitiFact pointed out a study on gun violence deaths per capita. It found that the U.S. was ranked 20th in a list of firearm-related deaths in territories and countries. In other words, 19 other countries/territories ranked higher than the U.S.
