Noah began his remarks by noting that Noah had been thinking a lot lately about the fact that the show had been on for seven years. As he thought about that, he felt overwhelmed with “a feeling of gratitude.”

He said that the journey he and his co-hosts have shared has been “wild”, noting that the show was made possible by many producers, correspondents, and other moving parts. It’s been wild seven years. I want to thank the audience. It’s been wild.

After a long pause, Noah resumed. The crowd erupted in cheers and applause. “I can still remember the first time we started… so many people didn’t believe in us. It was a crazy decision to make, I mean. What a journey it’s been.

Noah said, “I just found myself filled with gratitude for this journey,” listing a variety of events that occurred during his time at the desk.

Noah spoke then, “I realized that after seven years, I am done,” prompting several gasps from the audience. “Yes, but in the most beautiful, honest way. This show has been a pleasure to host. It’s been a great challenge, and it’s been a joy. I love trying to find ways to make people laugh, even when they are s***y. We’ve shared laughter, and we’ve also shared our sorrows.

Noah stated, “But after seven years, I feel like its time,” Noah continued, noting that he really missed traveling to do stand up — and that he wanted to be able back to that.

He said, “I’ve never learned to say goodbye,” and quickly assured the audience that he was not going to disappear from the face of the Earth. It’s not instant. I’m not going away, don’t be afraid. If I owe you money, I’ll still pay you.”
